GOLFER Richard Yip is on the verge of reaching an amateur world final in Portugal.
The 35-year-old, of Penshurst Road, Bromsgrove, teams up with Shorpshire-based playing partner Malcolm Tibbett for the UK final of the Audi Quattro Cup at the Forest of Arden Golf Club, near Meriden, next Wednesday.
Yip, who plays off a 22 handicap at Bromsgrove GC, earned qualification by finishing fourth with Malcolm at the regional final, one of six staged nationally, at St Pierre GC, in Chepstow, in July.
Before that he won a 30-strong competition at Hawkstone Park, near Whitchurch, in June.
Richard, in the competition because he is an Audi customer, said: "It's a bit of an achievement to get to the national final. I am really excited by it."
The top two pairs from next week's final will represent the UK in the world final at Vilamoura, in Portugal, next month.
