TWO badminton teams are aiming for more success as they begin the new season.

Both teams from Colmers Farm Badminton Club, in Rubery, secured separate promotions last term and are hoping to build on that when the new campaign starts next week.

The club's Cradley Heath League side won division four and will play in division three this season.

The team, made up of under 17-year-olds and playing against people twice their age, were also awarded the league's achievers award for outstanding behaviour. Commonwealth Games gold medallist Simon Archer, from Worcester, presented them with their award.

Meanwhile, the club also saw its Worcester League side finish runners-up in division three to seal a place in division two.

Club chairman Lee Machin, also a member of that side, said: "We are hoping to get promotion again, that's our objection. We have got a strong team for the new season."

In addition, a mixed team is starting out for the first time this season in division four of the Worcester League.
