THIS immaculately produced project has been designed purely to showcase Alison Moyet's wonderfully rich voice and more than justifies its title.

Moyet, who is now 43, has set out to reproduce some of her favourite songs in a classical setting and, to a greater extent, comes through with flying colours.

The album includes classic old standards like Cry Me A River, Windmills of Your Mind and The Man I Love as well as more unusual material like Jacque Brel's La Chanson des Vieux Amants and Bye Bye Blackbird.

Moyet also doffs her cap to Elvis Costello with Almost Blue and God Give Me Strength, which he wrote with Burt Bacharach.

Most of the arrangements are well crafted, though God Give Me Strength is a little too sickly sweet and Jacque Brel's tune seems unnecessarily pretentious among the other songs.

But Moyet's voice is in fine fettle and must still rate as one of the finest British voices of a generation.

The album creates a beautiful unrushed melancholy which grabs hold of you like a rather nice comfort blanket.
