KIND-hearted townsfolk are being called on to help bereaved fellow residents after the success of a town counselling service.
The Bromsgrove Bereavement Counselling Service has been inundated with referrals during the summer and is now hoping to recruit four new counsellors.
Co-ordinator Sue Wood said: "I think people, in particular men, are more willing to go to the doctor about coping with grief and the doctors are keen to refer them to us."
Sue said the volunteers do not need to be qualified counsellors, as all training will be given.
"Personal qualities such as being non-judgemental and a good listener are more important," she said.
Since the increase in men using the service, Sue is hopeful she can recruit more male volunteers.
People need to be able to spare three hours a week and should be free to attend meetings of the case support group on Thursday evenings.
Prospective volunteers should call Sue on 01384 372987.
It is the same number if you would like to make an appointment to talk about a bereavement you have suffered.
