TWO car park attendants, who were sacked after failing to issue enough tickets, have lobbied councillors in their latest attempt to highlight their unfair treatment.

According to Phil Mansell and Bruce Edwards, they were dismissed because they did not reach the district council-set target of 19.6 tickets per day.

Before a special district council meeting last Wednesday, the pair handed out information to councillors which they say proved there were set targets.

Mr Mansell and Mr Edwards, who both live in Bewdley, had hoped councillors would discuss their situation in the meeting.

Councillor Peter McDonald (Lab-Waseley) has suggested the pair are reinstated and then suspended on full pay until an inquiry has taken place.

He had a heated argument with council chairman Ted Tibby (Con-Norton) and demanded that the sackings be discussed.

Cllr McDonald said: "We could have another meeting after this one and put it on that agenda."

But the dismissed attendants were disappointed when the chairman said they would only discuss items on the agenda of that meeting.

Following the meeting Mr Mansell said: "I would like the council to organise another meeting where they can discuss the situation that they have put me in.

"I think it's absolutely disgusting they would not discuss it tonight and if that is democracy in Bromsgrove, I am glad I'm under the Wyre Forest District Council."

He added: "I would like to thank Councillor McDonald for his help."
