WINNING an Oscar, starring in an international blockbuster or having their name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame would be a dream for most actors.

But Andy Wright, of Kenyon Close, Bromsgrove, is quite content to enjoy working as an extra and soaking up the on-set atmosphere of British TV shows. In fact, he loves it.

Andy has been acting for fours years and has had bit parts in Casualty, Dalziel and Pascoe and Peak Practice, as well as many other stage roles.

He first caught the acting bug when he visited a friend in Bristol and met an actor who had just been in Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp.

Twenty-six-year-old Andy was inspired to try his hand at the world of acting and decided he should get professional training. He went to Birmingham Theatre School where he learnt to act, sing and dance.

Andy had worked at Argos, in the High Street, since 1996, before recently giving it up to follow his acting dreams.

"I am very happy with how my career is going at the moment. I enjoy the work I am getting and it is coming in thick and fast," he said.

"People always ask if I want to go to Hollywood to pursue my career and if I was offered a job there I certainly wouldn't turn it down but I'm contented with what I'm doing now."

Andy still gets to mingle with the stars, including singer and actress Billie Piper just last month.

"I have met quite a few of the stars now. They have all been really nice and normal but it is always quite exciting to meet them."

Perhaps one day a budding young actor will be saying the same about Andy.
