READER Mark Garton overlooks the huge investment Severn Trent Water has already made and must continue to make - more than £3m every single day - to protect the health and well being of our customers across Worcestershire.
For every £1 in profit made, Severn Trent Water has invested £1.60 to ensure the huge infrastructure we need to clean drinking water and protect rivers and streams never again lapses into the dereliction seen in the days of public ownership.
That investment now means that Bromsgrove people have some of the best and safest tap water in the world, and rivers and streams are cleaner than any time since the Industrial Revolution.
The average cost now for all our services is just 60p a day. Even under plans as they currently stand, prices will be just 4p a day higher in real terms by 2009 than they were in 1999, and still just around double the cost of a daily newspaper.
