BROMSGROVE Rovers Reserves were beaten 3-1 at Boldmere St Michaels in the Group B of the Challenge Bowl First Round.
Rovers, who drew at Nuneaton Borough in the Central Conference last Wednesday, lacked sharpness and stand-in goalkeeper David Rousell had to support a leaky back line.
But for Boldmere's inability to score from gifts they could have been in front long before they did manage to score right on half time.
Rovers were better in the second half but went 2-0 behind when Ryan Murphy chipped the ball over Rousell's head.
A great ball from Tom Davies allowed How to cross for Andre Whtye and he halved the deficit.
The visitors pressed for an equaliser but conceded a third after a long ball caught out the defence.
