FAIRFIELD Villa manager Neil Gallagher believes his side gave a good account of themselves despite crashing out of the Endsleigh Challenge Cup at the first attempt.

A goal in each half saw Gallagher's Midland Combination Division One side lose 2-0 at Premier Division outfit Feckenham in last Saturday's first round clash.

But the boss said: "You wouldn't have thought there was a division gap between the sides. We had opportunities to score in the first 20 minutes, which we didn't take.

"We gave them quite a good game. I wasn't too disappointed because I felt we acquitted ourselves quite well and deserved something."

Villa made the early running and had three good chances to take the lead but home goalkeeper Dave Gorton was equal to them.

The visitors then gave away a needless corner, which they failed to clear and Stuart Douglas put the hosts ahead from close range.

From there Feckenham took control and Villa goalkeeper John Slade kept his side in the game with some good saves.

Play was fairly even after the break, with Leon Mooney going close for Villa, before Ryan Field made the game safe for Feckenham seven minutes from time.
