THE country's leading brass quintet is set to perform in the Faithful City next month.

Fine Arts Brass will be appearing at Worcester's Huntingdon Hall on Sunday, October 3.

Playing a family concert at noon as the opening event of Worcester Concert Club's 2004-05 season, the band will tailor their programme to the age and make-up of the audience.

The quintet - that has played 2,500 concerts worldwide - will then play a main concert at 3pm featuring new British music including Full Fathom Five by renowned composer Guy Woolfenden, formerly of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

The concert will also include the first performance of Tomkin's Tunes written for Fine Arts Brass by Malvern resident, Derek Smith and an A-Z of big band jazz.

Mr Woolfenden acted as adjudicator in the recent Tomkins Awards for young composers and will present the award on stage to Edward Nesbitt.

Edward is a former pupil at Malvern College where he studied under Ian Sloan, Malvern Choral Society's conductor.

Edward lives in Tewkesbury and, at the early age of 18, has to his credit an enviable list of previous compositions performed by the National Youth Orchestra.

All tickets for the family concert are £3, with a free ticket for any adult bringing five or more young people.

Tickets for the main concert are £12.50 for non-members (free for members) and available at the Huntingdon Hall Box Office.
