THE Princess Royal was due to visit Worcester today to officially open a new preparatory school.
Princess Anne was expected at The Grange, in Fernhill Heath, at 11am today, for a tour of the Royal Grammar School's junior department.
All 365 pupils - led by head boy Tom Fairman and head girl Eleanor Ives - were due to greet her, alongside headteacher Dr Duncan Jones.
The Grange Lane school was designed in 2001 and completed with a £4.5m, 16-classroom extension this April.
Princess Anne will give her royal approval to the site, sign the visitors' book and unveil a glass plaque, created by stained glass artist Barry Lister, to commemorate the occasion.
The Princess Royal was also keen to examine the information and communication technology facilities and artwork on display during her visit.
She is due to visit Redditch and Warwickshire later today.
