CURRENT British Superstocks champion Andy Tinsley will bid to retain his title in the final race at the season at Donington Park this weekend.

The Astwood Bank ace is currently 11 points behind the new championship leader but with 50 points at stake in the Donington double header the Tinman is confident of success.

On Sunday Tinsley had to settle for fourth place at a rain affected Oulton Park.

The Tinman qualified third with his main rivals for the championship behind him and even led the first five laps until the clouds gathered.

The race was stopped and Tinsley chose a wet tyre for the six laps remaining but with the weather starting to brighten up his tyre slowly fell apart.

He said: "Now I wish I'd been a bit more sensible and chose the same tyres as my rivals but I gambled hoping it was going to be damp.

"Unfortunately it wasn't wet enough."

But despite his disappointment Tinsley could take a slight advantage into the final races of the championship.

With the Tinman and his Knotts/Buildbase team mate Tristan Palmer both in with a shot of the championship the men have already spoken about some possible tactics for the race.
