JOE Jackson believes his Bromsgrove Rovers side should have taken maximum points from their opening fixture.

The Rovers boss watched his side draw 1-1 with Oxford City at the Victoria Ground last Saturday.

Speaking to the Advertiser/Messenger he said: "It was disappointing really because I thought we were more than capable of picking up the maximum points but it's early days."

Although Rovers failed to collect three points against an indiferent Oxford outfit, Jackson is confident his recruits are learning after a gruelling pre-season schedule.

"I would like to think that a lot of the players tried to do what was required of them," he said.

Jackson also admitted there is room for improvement as he takes his side into two games in the space of four days.

Rovers travel to Swindon Supermarine this Saturday and host Corby Town next Tuesday night.

And the boss is aware his players are far from the finished article.

He said: "There's certainly room for improvement. We have got to be realistic. We are trying to put a side together that's really going to challenge for the title."
