THANK goodness we have a common sense councillor in Mike Layland who speaks out when our hypocritical plutocracy makes its blind decisions.
I have lived near the field next to Bishop Perowne High School for 16 years and observed the locals' attempts to use it, and at the same time watched young lads around here playing football in the roads.
For 16 years, the prison camp-style fencing has been periodically broken to allow access to this tempting piece of greenery, only to be mended again by some mystery person.
Two polite young lads called some weeks ago with a petition that I willingly signed regarding its use. Well done, lads.
Let's hope authority uses its brains and officially opens this field for leisure use.
