WORCESTER City academy manager Ray Woods believes his teenage charges will pull out all the stops tonight as they take on Newport County in the FA Youth Cup Preliminary Round at St George's Lane (7.45).

The Welsh outfit have grown a reputation for dashing the cup hopes of many English sides down the years, but Woods reckons his side will come out on top if they win the midfield battle.

Left-winger Troy Wood is the only injury doubt and the onus will be on star youngsters Luke Whittington, 16, and Gary Walker, 17, to perform well in central midfield.

Woods said: "All the lads are up for it and know they can win the game if they play to their strengths. Newport are a big, strong side but we were fortunate to beat them 4-1 a few years ago at the same stage. If our midfield comes out on top, I expect us to get through."

Elsewhere tonight, Westfields and Malvern Town are both in action in the Travel Factory Alliance.

League leaders Westfields, who have only lost once all season, host Studley, while Malvern face Cradley Town.

In the Midland Combination Premier, Pershore Town are at Coleshill.

Bromsgrove Rovers entertain Hereford United in the Central Conference.
