JETHRO Tedman scored Droitwich Rugby Club's try but they lost their second Midlands Three West South game with a 20-7 home defeat to Barkers Butts.

Tedman struck ten minutes before the break, picking up from the back of a ruck and finding a defensive gap to go over from close range.

Droitwich skipper Matt Blackmore kicked the conversion to send them in level 7-7 at the interval but Barkers' experienced and dominant forwards proved too much for the home pack.

The visitors, who had been relegated in the previous two seasons, ran in a second try and managed two penalties to triumph in a hard-fought match.

In perfect playing conditions at the Glynn Mitchell Memorial Ground, Droitwich gave a debut to new South African scrum half Gareth Montgomery and recalled full back Ben Cotterill to replace the injured Andy Pinches.

There were also call-ups for front row forward Dean Goddard and veteran prop Paul Bowditch, while young hooker Andrew Manns impressed in his second start of the season.

After an even first 15 minutes, Barkers were the first to strike with a well-worked converted try but Droitwich bounced back to level before the game ran away from them in the second period.

Droitwich seconds beat Bromsgrove thirds 34-13 with tries from Jamie Faulkener (two), Shaun Walker (two) and Nick Radchenko.

Dean Evans converted three and kicked a penalty.
