A woman had to be cut free from her car by firefighters after she was in collision with an articulated lorry this morning.

The accident happened at 7.30am on Bromyard Road in Worcester, near the turning for Broadheath, and the road was blocked as emergency services tried to free the woman.

The woman, driving a blue Ford Fiesta, was pulling out of a lane on the back drive to the former Aymestrey School, when she was in collision with the lorry.

Two fire engines, an ambulance and police were quickly on scene to cut the woman free and she was finally released at 8.25am.

She was taken by ambulance to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment for suspected spinal injuries. The driver of the lorry did not need hospital treatment.
