TWO men posing as representatives of an electricity company tried to gain access to a house in Besford, near Pershore.
The men knocked at the door of a home in Harewell Lane at 11.30am on Friday and asked the owner if his electricity had come back on - despite the fact that there had been no power cut in the area.
South Worcestershire Police are now warning people to beware of bogus officials.
A police spokesman said: "Fortunately, these two men failed to gain access to the premises they were targeting."
Both men were white and wore jeans and polo shirts, although the shirt colours are not known. The first was 5ft 9ins tall, in his late 20s. The second was smaller and older.
If anyone saw anything suspicious - or recognises the descriptions - they are asked to contact police on 08457 444888, quoting 278S/100904.
