THE annual grand barbecue in aid of Staunton Church funds will be held at The Hill, Staunton on Saturday, July 17 at 7pm by kind permission of Mr and Mrs John Luard. With all local produce and vegetarians catered for if notice is given in advance, this popular event is held in a very attractive setting with background music, but if wet it will be held under cover. Tickets are available from Janet on (01452) 840600, Audrey on 840225 or June on 840342. Tickets, including one drink, are adults £7, children under 14 £4.

A large congregation was welcomed to the family service at St James' Church, Staunton including the family of Elinor Scarlet, daughter of Philip and Rebecca Nowell of Staunton, and two couples whose banns of marriage were read during the service. Canon John Evans conducted the service and baptised Elinor. The reader was Christine Morgan. Canon Evans was the celebrant and Ursula Groves-Smith assisted. The organist was Margaret Riley.

Mrs Mavis Coupar sends her sincere thanks to everyone who supported and gave so generously to the bring and buy she held at her home in aid of the Gloucester and District branch of the Alzheimer's Society, when a total of £140 was raised.

The next get together coffee morning will be held in the lounge at Johnstone Close, Staunton on Wednesday from 10.30am to noon with a bring and buy and raffle.
