A SUCCESSFUL fundraising quiz in aid of St Richard's Hospice was held in Powick Parish Hall last Friday. Eighteen teams of four competed under novel names. The winners were The Muppets, each member winning a mug and a medal, and the lowest scoring team of two was Reckless, winning a light bulb and a pencil sharpener for enlightenment and to sharpen their wits! The quiz master was Bob Thomas from Malvern, who was presented with a bottle of wine for his expertise in setting the questions. A ploughman's supper was provided and a raffle, the prizes including wine, biscuits and tennis balls. The first prize of a bottle of whisky was won by Jim Allsopp. The raffle alone raised £85 but the final total raised is as yet unknown.

The quiz coincided with the launch of the St Richard's new hospice appeal, Building Beds Together, campaign in Worcester on Saturday.

This Sunday, another book fair will be held in Powick Parish Hall from 10am-4pm. Bargain books for holiday reading, plus refreshments.
