FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in a doorway of the old Castle Street hospital building in Worcester city centre yesterday.
The incident happened around 12.15pm and one fire crew from the city was on scene for about 30 minutes tackling the blaze.
Nick Sinfield, salesman at the Jeep showroom City and County on Castle Street - across the road from the hospital site - said his manager reported the blaze to firefighters.
"It wasn't a big inferno or anything, but it certainly stopped the traffic," he said.
"To start with I thought somebody had set light to some branches that had been cut down there, but then I saw the doors on fire."
The cause of the fire was unknown and police were also alerted to the incident.
