BROMSGROVE Rovers return to pre-season training this week after a two-month break.

New boss Joe Jackson, who has secured the services of the majority of last season's squad, leads his first training session tomorrow (Thursday) night.

Jackson has made just one signing to date - former Telford United player Jonathan Daniels - but expects to increase that now pre-season is underway.

He said: "We are still talking to players. I have got 15 signed up and another three or four who are going to be on trial."

Among the trialists are 18-year-old goalkeeper Andrew Yarnold, released by Aston Villa, and left midfielder Lee Churchill.

Also spending time with the squad is former Worcester City youngster Dwaine McFarlane, who plays on the wing.

Jackson added: "It's nice to get our teeth back into it and there's a few things we need to sort out. We are raring to go and looking forward to it."

The boss is also keeping an open mind on the future of Marcus Jackson. The winger has currently left the club but has not joined another.

Rovers are due to play nine friendly matches as part of their warm-up programme, including one against former captain Steve Pope's new side Halesowen Town. Rovers start at Stratford Town on Tuesday, July 20.
