MORE than 200 quality street rods, muscle cars and exotic super cars are expected to head for Shakespeare County Raceway this weekend for the annual date with nostalgia and Pistonfest - home to some of the world's quickest and fastest sports cars.

The event, co-ordinated by the National Street Rod Association and Piston-heads.com, features two action-packed days of 'street legal' drag racing for pre '69 'high dollar' street rods and dedicated sports racers.

"Every year they turn up in their 100s to further the cause of hot-rodding in England," said a spokesperson.

The 1950s was the cornerstone of drag racing and it's events like the Nostalgia Nationals and the NSRA's original - the Hot Rod Drags - that help recreate the sport's golden days.

Where else can you expect to find period side-valve flathead roadsters, GM powered Deuce Coupes, Chevy powered Fiats, classic Super-charged Willy's Coupes and ground thumping dragsters with unbridled horsepower and gleaming chrome.

And Pistonfest just gets bigger and better, especially with the event carrying the support from TVR Power who will be bringing along the Tuscan 2 Convertible, Sagaris, Taraka Griffith and a nitrous injected Cerbera!

There will be an auction to soar over the show site in an ex RAF jet, Scrapheap Challenge to find the quickest car dismantler of the show, bands and, if you live close to the race track you'll be able to stay in touch and listen live to PistonHeads FM on Torque Radio 106.9!

Sunday's climax will be a special first time dual on the drag strip featuring the NSRA's top five going head-to-head with the Pistonfest's top five as nostalgia meets exotica!

Admission to both events is £15 per person per day or £22per for a weekend pass. Under-16s are admitted free. RWYB Track signing-on fee is £15 per day or £25for the weekend for unlimited runs.
