THE Kidderminster Harriers squad is now down to 10 men after Dean Bennett joined Adam Murray out of the Aggborough exit door.

Only days after Murray left for Mansfield on a free transfer, Bennett has turned his back on a two-year offer to join League One side Wrexham.

It will leave Harriers and director of football Jan Molby reeling as the long-serving midfielder had verbally agreed to stay with them in May.

The club are currently just left with 10 players, including two goalkeepers in John Danby and Danny Lewis who is the only summer signing so far.

Bennett was into his sixth year with Harriers, helping them win the Conference and establish themselves in the Football League.

The 26-year-old, top scorer last season with seven, grabbed 32 goals in 228 games but was offered a reduced wage in his new contract.

Wrexham's two-year offer to step up a division has tempted Bennett away to join up with former Harriers team-mate Danny Williams.

Harriers fans are crying out for new signings ahead of the start of pre-season on Monday.
