ART lovers will have plenty of opportunities to see the work of artists and craftsmen from Shipston and the surrounding areas next month when Warwickshire Artsweek comes to town.

From July 3 until July 11 the work of 11 artists and art groups will be on show as part of the event, which is supported by Warwickshire County Council, Stratford District Council and the Arts Council England.

Among the exhibitions is Art Box, which is showcasing art using a cardboard box, created by young people under the age of 21 in Stratford District, at the Townsend Gallery, Sheep Street, Shipston from 12pm to 4pm each day.

Pamela Dronfield, will be displaying her country life and rural landscape paintings at td works open studio in Upper Brailes from 10am to 5pm; Dianne Greenway will be showing her paintings and drawings, which are described as "wrestling natural form in varied water-based or dry media" in Cherington; and Frank Kenna's unique home accessories hand crafted in hardwood and steel will be displayed at the Hayloft Studio, Ditchford Farm near Moreton, from 10am to 5pm.

Members of Long Compton Art Group will also be getting in on the act, with an exhibition of their paintings, tapestry and photography in the village church from 10am to 5pm.

Other artists taking part are abstract painter Eva Lock and landscape painter Ian Staples, whose works will also be on display at the Hayloft Studio at Ditchford Farm, Linda Rasa and sculptor Dominic Wiggins of the td works open studio in Upper Brailes and landscape painter Miranda Taylor of Ilmington Manor, Ilmington near Shipston.

Shipston regeneration body Stour Power and Shipston Town Council are supporting an arts trail round the town, showcasing the work of Stour Valley artists, displayed in 11 shops. Further information and copies of a free brochure contact Warwickshire County Arts Service on 01926 412492.
