"Working with women of the developing world" was the theme of the June guest speaker, Sue Roundell, who represented the Intermediate Technology Development Group.
She explained about this charity with a difference, which was formed in 1966, to help some of the world's poorest people to use simple technology to fight poverty and transform their lives.
There are now over 40,000 members in the UK.
Women in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Peru and Nepal have all helped in a variety of projects. In Nepal, assistance with the introduction of the bicycle ambulance which has a four-wheeled trailer attached to a normal bicycle, now means that patients and a family member can be transported over rough terrain.
A question and answer session followed the talk.
