A COOKLEY fisherman has his sights set on reeling in a 20lb-plus salmon after breaking his previous record catch.
Store manager Jon Deakin could not believe it when he caught a 19lb 8oz trout with a black minky fly at Shatterford Fishery's Masters Lake.
The 37-year-old has only been fly fishing for four years but had previously taken a 19lb fish in the Cotswolds.
Deakin said: "I could tell it was a big fish as it moved very slowly. But it was still a shock to see it rise out of the water. The fish's head was as big as a dog's.
"There aren't many trout bigger than that so my next goal is a salmon when I go river fishing in Wales and Scotland in August."
