A NEW South Indian cuisine restaurant will finally be opening its doors to the public next Wednesday, a week longer than anticipated.
Malabar Restaurant, which is co-owned by Mohammed Shah and head chef Suruj Ali, will be opening on Broad Street, Worcester city centre.
The restaurant was originally scheduled for opening on Monday, June 28, but Mr Shah explained: "It was delayed because of contractors and builders - work has taken longer than anticipated."
Mr Shah said he believes it will be Worcester's first restaurant to serve solely south Indian cuisine.
"South Indian cuisine is not as spicy as usual Indian food, it's more subtle and more tasty," he said.
The menu will focus on fish, such as sea bass and monkfish, and chicken.
"All chicken will be grilled before it's cooked to reduce the fat, as well as fish," said Mr Shah.
"The food we cook is only cooked when it is ordered."
The restaurant which also has a licensed bar, will be open from 5.30pm to 11pm.
"We're aiming for the more professional trade," added Mr Shah.
"It's a very different food - you will have to see it and taste it to see."
