A GROUP of youngsters in Ashton-under-Hill brought the 1950s back to life with a rock and roll musical at the village hall at the weekend.
Stage 21, made up of young people aged 10 to 14, got into their retro clothes to perform Shake, Ripple and Roll last Friday and Saturday.
The play was set in Angelo's ice cream parlour, where Chuck and the gang were hanging out during the long, hot summer, Joey Nobody, the guy with no memory, was serving sodas and dreaming of owning the parlour and the waitresses were bustling about in their circular skirts and bobby socks.
One phone call to say Uncle Angelo was dead and hadn't left a will sent them into a spin, and at that moment film star Deanne la Domme walked in with her entourage and claimed to be his only living relative.
