SOME ENCHANTED EVENING: A party fit for royalty was thrown at Kiftsgate Court, courtesy of Mr and Mrs Johnny Chambers. The event, Some Enchanted Evening held in aid of St Saviour's Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre under the direction of Lady Margaret Aird, happened to be the wettest day this summer but despite this, 280 guests arrived for music and cocktails in the garden, recently awarded HHA and Christies Garden of the Year 2004, soon after 6.30pm and bravely took their drinks and brollies around the grounds as sounds of saxophones blended with the scent of wet roses. This was followed by a meal orchestrated by Sonya Kidney of the Churchill Arms, and cabaret from Nina Conti, actor Tom Conti's daughter.
The event raised just under £20,000, before modest costs.
