THERE was good news for at least one Wyre Forest school with the announcement that Wilden CE First School had won its campaign against closure.
Protesters had argued that the heart of the village would be torn out if the school was closed and new housing in the area justified keeping it open.
Headteacher, Joy White, said: "Everybody's contribution to the campaign has paid off, not only that of the parents and staff, but of the community at large.
"Our feeling all along has been that the school is the hub of the community and without it the village would no longer be the community it is now."
She added that the links with the church were hugely important and Wilden would now go from strength to strength as a primary school.
