Warwick 1, Evesham 6

EVESHAM maintained their winning run in their latest Summer League game after last weekend's clinical and comprehensive victory.

With a squad blending youth and experience, Evesham were simply too strong for their local rivals particularly in attack where the hosts dominated proceedings.

Once again, Richard Drew was the star as he scored his second hat-trick in successive matches.

Evesham' s midfield controlled the game for large periods. Matt Baumber and Tom Drew were particularly impressive while Chris Perry and Jon Vickery always wanted possession of the ball.

This dominance provided a secure platform for the attack to create a number of chances and eventually Matt Haines from close-range and Richard Drew with two excellent individual goals gave the visitors a deserved lead.

Evesham were four goals to the good midway through the opening half as Baumber made no mistake from the edge of the circle as the Warwick defence retreated rather than making tackles.

In the second half, Evesham relaxed and reorganised. Martin Husbands and Seb Seneque provided good cover in defence and marshalled the play although Evesham did become a little too one-dimensional in attack trying to rush rather than pass and be patient.

The midfield became too relaxed in their marking and a break away saw Warwick pull a goal back. However, this seemed to re-focus concentration and Evesham completed the rout courtesy of Baumber's second and Drew's hat-trick strike with an excellent reverse shot.

Evesham continue their league interest against Yardley this weekend and new players are invited to call Martin on 07900 910999 if they are interested in joining this resurgent club.
