ROB Wood enjoyed a dream start to his LuKRacing.net's racing career, winning the Ross-on-Wye 25-mile time trial.

It was his first open time trial and attempt at the distance and made it a first competitive outing to remember for the Worcester-based team.

Wood was close to the course record in a time of 56.56, and won by a slender 16 second margin with team mate Derek Rogers taking third another 20 seconds back.

LuKRacing.net approach the forthcoming National Team Time Trial Championships, in good form having won the Port Talbot Wheelers Four Man Team Time Trial last week.

This 25-mile event sees riders start in teams of four and take turns in keeping the pace at the front.

Port Talbot Wheelers had won it for the last four season - however LuKRacing.net that came out on top.

The trio of Ceri Pritchard, Darren Willetts and Paul Osborne took the win and the event record in a time of 48.22, at an average speed of 31mph despite being a man short in the race.

Four of the Worcester Cycle Shop sponsored team's riders took part in the National 50-mile championships over a hilly course in Devon.

Despite missing some of the teams fastest riders through illness, all four managed to finish inside the top 30.

Darren Willetts led the way with a strong 11th place in 1.52.52, just two minutes off the bronze medal.

Barry Charlton was next to finish for LuKRacing in 1.54.47, although further back than he had hoped in 18th place.

Dave Dickerson (1.57.02) and Paul Osborne (1.58.17) finished 26th and 27th overall respectively.
