AN ALCESTER man has admitted having sex on four occasions with a 14-year-old girl at his home and at her home in Redditch.

William Perkins, aged 38, of Ten Acres, Alcester, had originally denied three charges of raping the girl and one of indecently assaulting her in the mid-90s.

But on the day he was due to stand trial at Warwick Crown Court, Perkins pleaded guilty to two additional charges of indecently assaulting the girl by having sexual intercourse with her.

Prosecutor Paul Farrer said the first of the charges reflected two occasions when Perkins had sex with the girl at his home, while the second charge represented two occasions when he had sex with her at her home in Redditch.

Perkins also admitted indecently assaulting another girl, aged 15, on a single occasion, also in the mid-90s.

He had faced a further two indecency allegations in relation to that girl and two in relation to a third girl, all of which he had denied.

Accepting Perkins' pleas and asking for the rape and other indecency charges to lie on the court file, Mr Farrer said the decision had been taken after speaking to all three complainants who said they were happy with that course.

Pamela Ratcliffe, defending, asked for the case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on Perkins, who she said was of previous good character.

She argued: "Sentences in cases of this nature are normally of a custodial nature but there may be something here which a report can assist on."

Judge Richard Cole agreed to the adjournment and granted Perkins bail, telling him: "It should not be taken as an indication that you will be sentenced in a non-custodial way. It is so I can have all the information about you."
