CRICKETER and TV star Phil Tufnell will be in Belbroughton tomorrow (Thursday) and this Friday as part of his 500-mile walk across the country to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

'Tuffers', who roughed it out in the jungle during television show I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, started the walk at Sussex County's Cricket Club in Hove on May 16.

Thousands of pounds have already been donated by well-wishers along the way.

A number of famous names have joined him en-route for the npower 500 challenge, including rugby world cup winning captain Martin Johnson and TV star Nick Hancock.

Phil said: "It's been a lot harder than I thought it would be but then you can't really replicate the punishment your body is going to take when you're walking an average of 20 miles a day.

"Initially, the problems were mainly stiffness in the legs but as the miles have racked up I've suffered with calf strains, a very painful left Achilles' tendon and, worst of all, nappy rash."

He added: "One of the God-sends is a little secret passed on to me by Ian Botham from his walks - 'rocket fuel'. This is a concoction of orange juice and a little tequila, with a few other secret ingredients, and we get stuck into that about an hour from the end of each day."

The cricketer's mum died of cancer when he was young so the charity has always held a special place in his heart.

He said: "No matter how painful it gets, I'm not going to lose sight of what it's all about."
