WE have lived on the Oakalls, Bromsgrove, now for 15 months and were aware after we moved in that there were plans for shops. Ourselves and our neighbours received a copy of the plans and to our horror were very concerned.

There was to be a One Stop Shop opening until 11pm and also a fast food takeaway, ie. chip shop and one other shop plus the nursery. As our house backs onto the current open land, we were very annoyed that a chip shop/convenience store would be opening as to me this is not a 'semi-rural village' environment.

A newsagent/post office open until 8pm is more the norm for semi-rural life.

There are problems currently with teenagers hanging around drinking alcohol at the bottom of Royal Worcester Crescent/Regents Park Road and we have also had eggs thrown at our house window and cars. With a convenience store located here selling alcohol would only encourage more problems.

The 'affordable' houses that were mentioned in the article are not part-ownership houses, just more affordable ones, ie. not £400,000-plus as confirmed by the council.

We personally would prefer houses and not have the nuisance of teenagers hanging around and also the smell of a fast-food takeaway store. There are plenty of these type of facilities in Bromsgrove town centre which in the car is only a few minutes drive away.

If residents were to have looked at the original plans of the shops, I think they would find that the option of houses more preferable as the deliveries/waste areas/noise would have been much worse than what is being proposed now.
