I AM writing to ask your readers to take part in 'The Big Red Fightback' during Heart Week, June 5-13. The British Heart Foundation is challenging the nation to take as many steps as possible to help raise vital funds to fight heart disease.

The top heart charity is asking the UK to raise £1million by climbing the equivalent of the world's 100 highest mountains 21 times - that's 100 million steps!

Over two and a half million people are living with coronary heart disease (CHD) and these figures are rising. This is why I'm supporting 'The Big Red Fightback'.

How you take your steps is completely up to you.

Why not use the stairs at home or work, go to the gym and hit the stepping machine, or take part in step aerobics! Just don't forget to keep a record of the number of steps you have taken and ask all your friends to sponsor you.

This is not only a great way to get fit yourself - but the money you raise will help to improve the nation's heart health!

For more information call 0800 028 2091, or visit bhf.org.uk/fightback.

Many thanks for your time and good luck to all who step up to the challenge!
