THE Phillpott File, as per usual, was a joy to read (Evening News, Monday, May 17).

However, with all due respect, I would like to correct him on some errors.

He wrongly states that draconian laws from across the water must not be imposed on "mainland" Britain.

Is he not aware of the fact that Ireland is in Europe and Britain is not the mainland?

Also, according to a recent poll, 75 per cent of the people in Ireland wholeheartedly approve of the smoking ban and that the craic and the blarney are still going strong.
