CHESS: Kidderminster B finished joint third with Mercia in the major section of Wolverhampton League's annual lightning tournament at Stourbridge.
The team comprised Mark Riley, Terry Pountney, Paul Thomas and Clive Billings.
In the trophy section, Kidderminster's A side of John Wrench, Jim Friar, Maurice Bissell and Frank Pickett ended the competition in mid-table.
Thomas joined five Redditch players in a weekend congress in Rotterdam.
He scored 50 per cent, winning three, drawing one and losing three of his seven games.
