HOCKEY: Owen Brotherton retained Stourport firsts' most valuable player accolade at their annual dinner and awards ceremony.

David Knott also kept hold of the top goal-scorer award which was presented at the veterans' evening.

Stourport Ladies were recognised for their Worcestershire League Division One title success as team coach Mark Moss presented the squad with medals at Stourport Sports Club.

They had been handed the championship trophy by out-going Worcestershire Hockey Association president Alan Fothergill at the county annual meeting in Droitwich.

The firsts' most valuable player, Vicky Whitehouse, was given her award by club chairman Lee Baron.

Women: seconds MVP, Lucy Holmes; thirds MVP, Vicky Clarke; fourths MVP, Sue Totney; top goal-scorer, Melissa Kennedy; young player, Kerry Walker; clubwoman award, Fran Long.

In the juniors section, Whitehouse, who has starred at county and Midlands level, picked up her second award with the Louise Gunn accolade at the junior disco and awards.

Most valuable Badger was Ben Carless who has represented both Wales and Shropshire, while Lewis Bevan earned the Jonathan Young Memorial Trophy.
