BROADWAY players are busy putting the finishing touches to their latest production to be staged next week at the Lifford Hall.

The comedy Fools Rush In, written by Kenneth Horne of Round the Horne radio fame, is packed with villagers including Dave Smith who plays Paul, an uninvited guest, and John Stevens, who directs the play and also plays the part of the groom. The bride is played by Julie Caddy and Vera Blundell takes the part of the the mother in law.

The tale is about pre-wedding jitters and revelations on the morning of one bride-to-be's big day. After reading a copy of the wedding service, it suddenly dawns on Pam the gravity of the promises she is about to make, and she refuses to be married until she can convince herself that she can stick to her wedding vows.

Pam's doubts about entering into a state of matrimony increase further when she meets her father Paul, long-since divorced from her mother Angela. Brought up to believe her dad is an abandoned bounder, Pam is surprised to discover Paul is a bit of a charmer and is sure that if his marriage cannot go the distance, hers is certainly doomed to failure.

Meanwhile Pam's betrothed, Joe, is also having his own doubts about the day, with matters further complicated by the bridesmaid's heavy-handed attempts to convince Pam that no woman could be blamed for leaving her father.

Dave Smith said: "We are all having great fun at rehearsals and hope as many people as possible will come along and see the show."

Fools Rush In will be at the Lifford Hall, Broadway, from Thursday, May 27, to Saturday, May 29. Tickets are available by contacting Dave Smith on 01386 852654.
