WORCESTER Warriors are launching a supporters' club as they head into the Premiership.

The National One champions' fan base has been steadily growing over the past three years and now, after their promotion to the top flight, they will form an official club.

John Phillips, who runs the Sixways Supporters web site, will organise the group and meetings look set to be called on a monthly basis.

"We are now in the Zurich Premiership and it's time to raise the bar.

"There is expected to be a massive increase in supporters and there is a genuine need for a Warriors supporters club," said Phillips.

"We intend to have a steering group of some 12/14 supporters who organise and manage the club. We want a good mix of personnel on the organising committee, young/old, male/female, player/non player."

The opening meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25 at O'Neill's Irish Bar, Worcester, beginning at 7.30pm.

"The meeting will decide on the constitution of the club, which will be based upon the National Rugby Supporters Association's (NRSA) constitution and rules," added Phillips.

"The club will be the interface between the supporters and the Warriors through direct working relationships with key management personnel."

Meanwhile, number eight Matt Evans and centre Duncan Murray have both signed for National One side Penzance and Newlyn.

The duo were released by Worcester at the end of the season.
