THE ordination of women crops up yet again as it is 10 years since the Anglican Church in England made the mistake of deciding that a woman could be ordained priest.

Of course, those of us who know our theology know that it cannot and does not happen.

The ordination of women can only be described as "specious" i.e. apparently correct or true, but actually wrong or false and deceptively attractive in appearance.

The Church, the one true Church of Rome, holds that it is not admissible to ordain women to the priesthood, for very fundamental reasons.

These reasons include - the example recorded in the Sacred Scriptures of Christ choosing his Apostles only from among men; the constant practice of the Church, which has imitated Christ in choosing only men; and her living teaching authority which has consistently held that the exclusion of women from the priesthood is in accordance with God's plan for his Church.

I am sure that there are many of my brother priests out there in the Anglican Church who now keep quiet about their discomfort due to these women who dress as men, purely for reasons of keeping the peace.

The Church does not have the authority to ordain women so any such ordinations are invalid.

n SO D E Margrett says there is nothing sinister going on (You Say, Friday, April 30).

Does he know something that we do not know? The EU constitution isn't even finished yet and there he is telling us not to worry. That worries me even more.

He then goes on and says our withdrawal from the EU would be a horrendous disaster.

How can that be - we are, apart from Germany, the highest contributor, to the EU and we buy more from them than they do from us.

And you say we will be in trouble! I'll tell you what, if Germany and England pulled out, the European Union would collapse. That would be something to celebrate.
