AUSSIE snooker star Quinten Hann took in Droitwich Spa last weekend as he made a whistle-stop tour of Worcestershire.

Hann, who made headlines last month after squaring up to Andy Hicks at the world championships, was in town between exhibitions in Redditch and Kidderminster.

The former world 8-ball pool champion, joined by top referee Jan Verhaas (above, right), stayed overnight in the Spa on the first leg of Hann's 20-date national tour.

But all that is taking a back seat at the moment as Hann is due to box against fellow snooker pro Mark King next month.

Following the world championship incident, King challenged Hann to a fight and the pair will do battle in front of television cameras at Bethnall Green on June 11.

Hann said: "The fight has taken priority because I don't want to get hammered in the ring.

"I have been training hard. Boxing is a lot harder than I had imagined. It's not nice getting hit in the head all the time.

"To be honest I'm more excited about that than any snooker match. You've got to have fun in life.

"We're snooker players, it's like two chess players having a fight. Snooker players aren't supposed to fight are they?"
