RESIDENTS concerned about anti-social behaviour in Cofton Hackett are being given a chance to air their feelings at a meeting on Monday.

The meeting was scheduled for last month but was postponed because too many people turned up for the size of the room.

Now the issue will be on the agenda of Cofton Hackett's Parish Council meeting, which will be held at the village hall on Barnt Green Road.

But some residents think this is a police ploy to divert attention from the issue of anti-social behaviour.

A spokesman for the residents' action group said: "The police promised us a meeting dedicated to discussing the problem of anti-social behaviour in Cofton Hackett.

"Now they are back-pedalling and trying to dilute the issue by mixing it up with parish council business."

Officers say they will be on a fact-finding mission to discover the opinions of the residents of Cofton Hackett.

PC Jayne Heraty, of Bromsgrove police, said: "In order to address these issues we need the people of Cofton Hackett to assist us.

"We cannot do this by ourselves and we really do need the local people to be our eyes and ears.

"We desperately need more volunteers to join Neighbourhood Watch and I will be discussing how people can join and what it means next Monday.

"For those who want to be more actively involved they can also join us as special constables and again we will have the details as to how people can do this."

She added: "Anti-social behaviour is not just the remit of the police. It involves everyone, parents, the community, the local authority and many more."

The meeting will be held at 7.30pm next Monday.
