Pershore Tn Girls U-12 2,

Worcester City 0

PERSHORE needed one point from their final match of the season to clinch the Mercian League title.

They faced the side they had defeated in the League Cup final and victory saw them complete the double and end the season undefeated.

Conscious of the fact that they couldn't afford to concede a goal, the Town defence of Annie Thomson, Laura Hudson and Ella Hoskins was solid throughout and did well to contain Worcester's high scoring Kirsty Jones.

A fine forward pass through to Maddie Owen saw her beat both centre half and keeper before finishing well to give Pershore the half-time advantage.

They continued as they had finished by pressurising the City goal but it took until midway through the second half before they increased their lead.

A long-range shot from Chloe Thomson took a slight deflection to give the goalkeeper no chance and clinch the championship.

Salford Rvrs U-15 1, Peopleton 3

ON THE back of a 24-match unbeaten run, Peopleton entered Sunday's Andy Wardroper Memorial Trophy final in confident mood.

And, they had the trophy wrapped up by the interval as a Matt Murphy brace and a goal from James Allen left Salford trailing by three goals.

Player of the match Alex Spencer was at the hub of Peopleton's attacking thrusts and, when he was fouled in the box, Murphy slotted in the penalty.

The scorer was denied by a super save but Allen was on hand to net the rebound before Murphy's curling free-kick added to Salford's first half misery.

The damage done, Peopleton relaxed after the break and allowed Rangers a late consolation that was too late to prevent the winners celebrating .

Their hopes of lifting the Mercian League title had been boosted five days earlier with a 5-0 defeat of Bredon Colts.

Needing to win and to score more than two goals to stay in contention, Peopleton found the net five times courtesy of Allen's four-goal salvo and Will George strike.

While Peopleton were lifting one trophy at Malvern Town last weekend, Drakes Broughton Under-14s missed out in the Wayne Phillpotts Memorial Shield final when a single goal earned Welland victory.

Littleton Jnrs U-13 13,

Malvern Tn Wdrs 2

LITTLETON moved to the top of the table after a comfortable win in their penultimate league fixture.

They were given a shock by their lowly opponents when Bobby Gray scored with a neat shot from the edge of the box.

Littleton were soon level when Ryan Clarke and Lance Smith combined down the left and Phil Davis swept in the resulting cross.

Clarke then sent Smith through with an inch-perfect pass and he calmly beat the keeper. The same combination worked again when Smith was sent clear for his second.

The scorer's astute centre was then headed home by Matt Goss before Davis grabbed his second. The Smith/Clarke combination then produced another goal as Smith completed his hat trick.

Namesake Matt's cross was then volleyed home by Goss as Littleton led 7-1 at half-time. They then contrived to squander a number of chances before a mazy run from Lance Smith was finished off by Davis to complete his treble.

The provider waltzed round three players and the keeper before casually sliding the ball into the net. Goss was next to complete his hat-trick with a simple tap-in.

Jack Proctor then hit a terrific goal with a shot from the edge of the box before Malvern reduced the arrears with an excellent strike from Floyd Gibbs.

Littleton soon scored again when Josh Craze showed a cool head when beating the keeper with a fine shot.

The best was left until last as Olly Payne burst through to hit a stunning shot past a startled keeper to complete the rout.

Evesham Utd U-9s 5, Bidford Jnrs 0

AFTER a slow start the Robins soon began to dominate.

Solid defending by Josh Smith and Ryan Cale cut out the majority of the Bidford attacks, while James Gadsby comfortably dealt with the few that got through.

With Jack Fairbrother picking up and distributing the ball well and Michael Witchard making his trademark attacking runs, it was just a matter of time before the goals started gong in.

After being thwarted by the woodwork on a couple of occasions, it took a couple of well-struck shots from Bradley Carpenter, two close-range finishes by Jamie Harrison and a well executed effort from Elliot Thompson to seal a comfortable victory.
