NEEDLEMAKERS and Campden Town have both picked up silverware during the past ten days of action in the Stratford Alliance.

The Journal Premier Division champions overcame Mettis Aerospace 3-1 to win last week's Edwards of Stratford Cup final, while Town needed penalties to overcome Shipston in Friday's Nursing Home Cup decider.

The former finalists locked horns again two nights later when Lions were again victorious in a top flight league clash.

Mettis, however, recovered sufficiently to defeat Badsey Rangers 5-3 on Saturday with Adam Hill and Jon Ingram both netting twice.

Ilmington Revolution secured the Herald Division One crown despite losing out by the only goal to Quinton last week.

The Cotswolds side bounced back courtesy of goals from Ben Huckfield, Jim Shearman and Liam McGrath to defeat their conquerors last weekend and move five points clear of Halfords who have only one game remaining.

Their hopes were dented when they could only share four goals with Campden Town Reserves last Thursday but they hit back to win 7-1 at fading Alcester Lions.

That goal tally was bettered at Badsey on Saturday when United's second string and Studley Nags Head shared eight goals.

Shaun Carter (Badsey) and Rory Cooper both scored hat-tricks.

Rob Reading was another treble topper as Cubbington won 7-1 at Park Tavern. Champions Littleton ended their successful season with a fourth Cutler Division Two reverse as Kenilworth Town ended a hectic five days with a 3-0 win.

Ilmington and Shipston's second teams found the net three times apiece with both teams benefiting from own goals in the 3-3 scoreline.
