A REDDITCH man is preparing to swing into action to regain a trophy which was donated last year in memory of his brother.

Pete Masters, from the Neville Arms golf team, is gearing up for the Astwood Bank Carnival golf tournament to try to win for the second year in a row.

The Bill Masters Trophy has spent the last 12 months sitting on show at the pub and the team is determined to win it back for a very special reason.

For Mr Masters and his team, the importance of the tournament lies in the name of the trophy, which is named after his brother Bill.

A keen golfer himself and a much-respected member of the community, Bill sadly died last year before being able to take part in the tournament and his wife and family donated the trophy in his memory.

Neville Arms manager Louise Doherty said: "We are very proud to have been able to show off this trophy in the restaurant for the last year and wish the team the very best of luck."

Despite having little opportunity to practice together due to their work commitments, the Neville Arms team, consisting of Mr Masters, his son James and fellow pub regulars, is confident it will once again bring back the trophy.
