STUDLEY councillors sometimes complain that because the village is right on the district and county boundary, they feel a bit "off the beaten track".

But tomorrow, Studley will be the singular focus of two of Stratford Council's most powerful men as they tour the village looking for any areas which need action.

The council's new corporate director, Trevor Askew, and chief executive Paul Lancaster will be dropping in for lunch at the village hall to chat with councillors keen to impress on them Studley's problems.

Mr Askew is the man in charge of a wide range of services including anything from waste collections and recycling to arts provision, leisure and car parking

Having just taken up the post and moved to the area, he has never visited Studley before.

He said: "I got in touch with councillors and asked them to meet me in the ward so we can discuss any issues and problems which face the area and take that back for discussion and to see what can be done.

"The chief executive was keen on the idea too. We went to Bidford recently and there were various issues, for example with CCTV, recycling bins and composting collection, some of which is very much day-to-day work for us and stuff we can tackle.

"We want to get out there and see all these issues first hand."

Studley councillor Hazel Wright said it would be an ideal opportunity to highlight the needs of the village to both men directly.

"We want to see a dynamic approach to certain issues, like vandalism, graffiti and litter hotspots and this is perfect," said Mrs Wright.

"I think it's the first time we've had a visit from such senior people."
