This visual compilation of The Who's career up until the late 70s has finally been lovingly restored and re-expanded to its full running length after languishing in grainy, VHS limbo for far too long.

And what an improvement.

By itself it justifiably reasserts The Who as not only one of the most musically powerful rock acts of all time but probably the most visually exciting.

The sheer creativity and gritty power of tunes like See Me, Feel Me, the 'mini-opera' A Quick One While He's Away, or Baba O'Riley, performed live are stunning to behold.

Anything since seems redundant by comparison.

There's no narration to the film, just TV and concert performances interspersed with some enlightening and not so enlightening interview clips.

Russell Harty has a particularly tough time trying to get even one straight answer out of the band, particularly with Keith 'the loon' Moon doing his best to debag himself live on TV.

The story takes us up to 1978 with extras providing an interesting insight into restoring the film.
